Kolaveri is a silly, small song: Dhanush

CHENNAI: Calling a song that has become a national sensation — Why this Kolaveri Di — a silly and small song, actor Dhanush asked people to forget it after they listened to it. “Listen to the song when you’re in your car and then forget it. Don’t discuss it on a stage, as if it is a patriotic song. It is a small, silly song,” the actor said, in a ceremony on Saturday where he was given the Young Achiever Award.The event was part of a gathering of young minds interested in a career in media.  The youngsters had assembled for Inspiration 2011, a panel discussion organised by Whistling Woods International, in the city. The actor further said that the song Kolaveri was a big hit because everything had fallen in place — the song had been promoted well by Sony Music, and its English lyrics had helped it reach a wider audience. He also urged the young audience to find their calling and know what their dreams were. Another recipient of the Young Achiever Award was the song’s composer Anirudh Ravichander, while filmmaker Balu Mahendra was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award.Prog Ujjwal K Chowdhury, Dean of the School of Communication, Whistling Woods International, said Inspiration 2011 was being held in 16 venues across the country, with Chennai being the 12th. The event aimed to provide guidance to young media professionals, as two lakh people were joining the media and entertainment industry every year in the country, he added. Also present during the event was Mayor Saidai Duraisamy.
