HYDERABAD: Following reports of withering of crops due to non-supply of power for six hours a day to the farm sector, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday directed all the district collectors to submit comprehensive reports on crop damage by Friday afternoon.The chief minister convened a meeting with senior officials to review the situation district-wise.The energy officials informed the chief minister about the steps taken by them to supply power to the farm sector for six hours a day.At present, the demand for power stood at 258 million units (MU) a day.The APTransco is able to supply 222 MU a day.The shortfall of 36 MU is being met by imposing power cut.The APTransco purchased 19 MU of power at a cost of `8.8 crore, they said.
