KOCHI: Don’t be surprised if Paravoor, Kothamangalam and Varappuzha sex scandal victims are dragged back into flesh trade within or outside the state. Giving credence to the widespread fear, it has come to light that a number of inmates of Government Children’s (Girls) Home at Kakkanad, where these victims are lodged, have gone missing in the recent past.“Four girls had gone missing from the Government Children’s (Girls) Home a few months back,’’ K P Shamsu, former superintendent of the GCH Kakkanad told Express. “A portion of the wall near the children’s home has collapsed. Through this cleft, anti-social elements used to contact the inmates. They often gave cell phones to these girls and helped them flee from the place,’’ said Shamsu, who was in charge of GCH till a week ago. This points to the inexcusable lapse in security that prevails within the premises. The security system is so porous that anti-social elements enter the premises almost every night, sources said.Claimed to be under strict surveillance, the place had no trace of police anywhere in the vicinity when this reporter trudged in. In the event, the chances of inmates, including sex scandal victims, falling into the hands of the flesh trade mafia are very high.Though the GCH home seemed like a fortress cordoned off with massive walls, the walls slant down so much at the eastern-end that anybody can enter the compound easily. Besides, the crumbled portion of the compound wall makes it a favourite joint of anti-social elements.“There is no security in the children’s home,’’ said a senior official with the Thrikkakara police station.
