CHENNAI: Alleging that a group of male nurses from Kerala had been cheated of Rs 25 lakh on the promise of gettting them jobs abroad, the Confederation of Tamil Nadu Malayalee Associations has lodged a complaint with the police on Friday.As per the complaint, Abilash had been introduced to a relative from Chitlapakkam when he had visited his sister in the city. The woman, who ran an agency along with her brother promised him a job in the UK with a monthly pay of Rs 2.5 lakh. Eight other acquaintances along with Abilash enrolled themselves with the agency and gave them amounts ranging from Rs 1.4 lakh to Rs 3.4 lakh. But even after a few months, the group did not get jobs and demanded their money back from the woman, who had allegedly asked them to contact her brother. Her brother, threatened them. Police said that Lingaraj (37) of MGR Nagar, Kovilambakkam, was missing since Wednesday after murdering his wife Lakshmi (26) by hitting her with an iron rod and later stabbing her. Police said, the murder took place during an argument over his alleged affair with Lakshmi’s sister. He was arrested on Thursday.
