Kamal Hassan's Dasavatharam faces ire of Hindu outfits
VHP objected to scenes of clashes between Shaivites and Vaishnavites.

Chennai: After the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), it was the turn of Hindu Munnani to cry foul of Actor Kamal Hassan's yet to be released Dasavatharam, in which he plays a record number of ten roles, the first-of-its-kind in the Indian film industry.

Even as the film was scheduled for release in couple of months, both the Hindu outfits have raised a bannner of revolt, demanding removal of certain scenes which, they claimed, hurt the feelings of Hindus.

Scores of Hassan's fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the film after its grand audio launch last week.

But the VHP and the Hindu Munnani have threatened to stall the screening of the film if Kamal Hassan and Ravikumar, the director of the film, did not remove 'objectionable scenes.'

VHP President Vedantham and Hindu Munnani Leader Rama Gopalan saw

red over the film reportedly depicting clashes between Shaivite and Vaishanvite saints during the 16th century AD and wanted the scenes removed.

"With the help of devotees, we will stage a protest demonstration in front of the theatres and stall the screening of the film,'' Gopalan said in a statement on Tuesday.

The Hindu leader also took serious exception to Mallika Sherawat sporting a revealing dress at the audio release function in the city and demanded action against her.

Facing controversies and obstacles is not something new to Kamal Hassan as he faced problems when he came out with his other ventures like Virumandi, (which was renamed Sandiyar) Mumbai Express and Vasool Raja MBBS.

Dasavatharam has won accolades from Hollywood action hero

Jackie Chan, who, after watching the synopsis of the film, said he was awe-struck by the film and wanted to act with Hassan.
