July 15 deadline for schools on fire safety

HYDERABAD: The GHMC additional commissioner (Regulatory Planning), Rajendra Prasad has appealed to school managements to ensure minimum fire safety measures for students.Addressing the final review meeting with managements of schools in North and West Zone, he said it is everybody’s responsibility to protect citizens. The meeting on fire safety measures, was attended by managements of 70 schools. During the meeting, managements requested time till October for installation of fire safety measures. However, the GHMC Fire Prevention wing officials said as the safety measures required are simple, the deadline was set for July 15.GHMC officials said the school managements should take this opportunity and provide safety measures before July 15 and obtain the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the civic body. They added that if schools fail to implement the measures, strict action will be initiated as per provisions of the AP Fire Service Act and building bye-laws.
