The J&K government is committed to eradicate corruption from the state administration.

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir government was committed to eradicate corruption from the state administration and was devising new strategies to deal with the menace, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has said.

As a part of this strategy, Deputy Commissioners of all districts have been directed to single out corrupt public servants every month and recommend their cases to the concerned departments, Azad said addressing a public meeting at R S Pura in Jammu district last evening.

Although over 50 senior officers, who have amassed huge amounts of wealth, are already under the scanner, the government has been formulating new methods to deal with this menace, he said.

The Chief Minister said that directions have been issued to the DCs as part of the new strategy of the government to take quick action against those found indulging in corruption.

Jammu and Kashmir is the only state which has formulated such strict laws against corruption and the property of some such officers have been confiscated by the state government, he said.

Properties of many more officers will be seized by the government in the days to come, Azad added.

The Chief Minister also sought cooperation of the common masses in the fight against corruption. "People have to come forward to expose corrupt officials," he said adding it is difficult for the government alone to root out corruption.
