Jethmalani to represent Kejriwal against Jaitley's defamation suit over DDCA row

New Delhi: The mud-slinging between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over DDCA row has taken a significant turn on Monday after senior lawyer and MP Ram Jethmalani has decided to represent Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal against Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's defamation suit.

Jaitley has filed a defamation suit in the Patiala House court against Kejriwal and other AAP leaders including Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha, Ashutosh and Deepak Bajpayee seeking damage (Rs 10 crore) for indulging in slander and baseless allegations against him.

For quite some time Jethmalani was annoyed with the NDA government and he alleged that the BJP did nothing to bring back black money. "I become a victim of fraud by playing into the hands of Narendra Modi and Arun Jaitley. Today I have come here to do penance for what I did by promoting Narendra Modi as the leader of the country," Jethmalani had said in Patna.

In 2010, Jethmalani was elected to Rajya Sabha on BJP ticket from Rajasthan. In May 2013, he was expelled from the party for six years for crossing the party line.
