Khajuraho: There was a miraculous escape for 59 passengers and eight crew members of a Jet Airways flight at the Khajuraho airport on Monday in Madhya Pradesh when one tyre of the plane malfunctioned while landing. The cause behind the collapse of the landing gear is being investigated and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been informed of the incident.
The tyre broke away from the landing gear and the plane jumped after hitting the runway leading to panic among the passengers.
But the pilot managed to land the plane successfully and all passengers were taken out from the aircraft using the emergency chute. According to a passenger Virendra Singh Chauhan the plane jumped thrice after hitting the runway.
The plane was going Delhi to Varanasi via Khajuraho. All the 67 people were deplaned at the runway. Jet Airways put an additional flight into service which will operate on the Delhi-Varanasi sector to assist in accommodating the passengers on the plane.
Airport officials say the incident took place at 1:35 PM.

Jet Airways flight 9W 2423 from Varanasi was involved in an incident on landing at Khajuraho airport earlier today.
The aircraft, a B737-800 experienced a technical problem with the landing gear after landing.
Safety chutes were deployed and all 59 passengers and 8 crew on board the aircraft disembarked safely and were transferred to the terminal.
Jet Airways is making arrangements to transfer outbound guests to Varanasi and Delhi. An additional flight is also being operated on the Delhi-Varanasi sector to assist in accommodating the outbound guests.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been informed of the incident.
The safety of its passengers is the airlines number one priority and Jet Airways will be working closely with the authorities during the investigation into the cause of this incident.
