Jehanabad: After attack, Govt apathy

Jehanabad (Bihar):The Jehanabad attack is the biggest so far by the Naxalites, our homegrown terrorists.

But thirty-six hours after the Jehanabad prison raid, not a single person has been arrested.

Though experts have begun saying that there is need for a single countrywide policy to deal with Naxalite terror throughout the country, not much is being done to deal with the terror attack in Jehanabad.

The only action that has been taken is the suspension of Jehanabad SP Sunil Kumar for negligence and the lathi-charge of the Ranvir Sena supporters who have started protests and are threatening revenge in many parts of Bihar.

Despite the tense situation, Home Ministry officials in New Delhi have said they will only provide minimal support like air surveillance back up to the affected states.

With Manmohan Singh and Shivraj Patil missing from the scene, it is evident that the government is treating Jehanabad as an isolated incident.
