JD(S) to stage demo against BJP

BANGALORE: The JD(S) will hold a massive demonstration in the city on October 23 in a protest against the BJP government’s failure to solve the power crisis that has affected the farmers and the people in the state. “Except for blaming the Centre, the state government has done little to augment power supply from various sources. This shows lack of concern and vision. We will mobilise public opinion against the government by holding a rally,” former prime minister H D Deve Gowda told reporters here on Thursday.Attributing the present power crisis to the hostile stance taken up by the BJP in its role as Opposition party in the past, Gowda said, “It was the BJP which opposed Nandikur and Tadadi plants. What is the point in blaming the Centre? he questioned. “The BJP ought to have realised that its stance on various issues would hurt the state’s interest,” he added.
