Chennai: Refuting reports, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Friday said that she had never denied assistance from the National Investigation Agency into the twin blasts at Chennai Central railway station which claimed the life of a young TCS employee and left 14 others injured.
She also hit back at arch rival K Karunanidhi saying that he did not have any moral right to question the state government and was politicising the matter.
"Timer devices were used to trigger the blast. If the train had arrived at the right time then the blast could have occurred in Andhra Pradesh," CM told reporters.
Two small intensity blasts took place onboard the Bangalore-Guwahati Express when it was moving into the Chennai Central Railway Station on Thursday morning. After initial investigation, terror angle was confirmed in the incident. Currently, Tamil Nadu CB-CID is probing the case.
Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde had earlier in the day said that unless and until the state government seeks an investigation by the NIA, the Centre could not take a call on its own. Addressing media persons he said, "Unless the state government does not want we cannot have a NIA probe the case. We are sending NIA team to the spot to collect data."
The Tamil Nadu CM is however confident that the state police would nab the culprits in the case. She said that the police have interrogated the alleged ISI agent Shakir Hussain in connection with the case.
