AIADMK general secretary and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa called on veteran CPI leader D Pandian at his residence here on Wednesday and extended birthday greetings.
On Tuesday, Jayalalithaa had sent a letter greeting the CPI leader on the occasion of his 80th birthday. She also sent senior AIADMK leaders to greet him on her behalf.
Pandian received the Chief Minister with a bouquet after which, Jayalalithaa presented a shawl and bouquet to him.
Pandian thanked the CM for taking time out to visit him at his residence, despite her tight schedule. Jayalalithaa then spent some time with Pandian’s family and posed for a photograph with them.
“Yesterday (September 25), the CM conveyed her greetings to me over the telephone, besides sending her party leaders to greet me. Today, despite her busy schedule, she has taken time to visit me at my residence. I am moved by the gesture. I wholeheartedly thank the Chief Minister on behalf of my party as well as my family,” Pandian told journalists here.
