Jai Telangana slogans at YSR Congress plenary

KADAPA: With the Telangana movement reaching fever pitch, Jai Telangana slogans were heard many times on the last day of the YSR Congress plenary session at Idupulapaya on Saturday.Many speakers from Telangana started and ended their speech with the Jai Telangana chant, while many were seen holding placards hailing Telangana and raising slogans in favour of it.It is interesting to note that the plenary session witnessed slogans favouring a separate state, when the YSR Congress not only committed to a unified state but also openly warned people would have to get a passport or visa to go to Hyderabad, if the state is divided. Telangana leaders Konda Surekha, Nizamabad ZP chairman Venkataramana Reddy, B Govardhan, Ravindranath Reddy and others ended their speech with slogan of Jai Telangana. Confusion prevailed for about five minutes following the shouting of Jai Telangana slogans by a section of delegates immediately after Konda Surekha’s speech, forcing her to come back to the podium, appealing delegates to maintain calm and asserting everyone is a Telanganite. Surprisingly, majority of delegates who were keen on Samaikyandra did not raise any counter slogans nor prevented those hailing Telangana.
