Doha: The Indian swimmers' challenge continued to sink without a trace with the early elimination of freestyle swimmer Virdhwal Khade and butterfly exponents Arjun Muralidharan and Ankur Poseria at the Asian Games on Monday.
Khade clocked one minute, 54.44 seconds while finishing third in the third heat of the men's 200m freestyle, which gave him overall ninth position. The top eight qualified.
Muralidharan and Poseria could do no better in the men's 100m butterfly heats and ended up fourth and seventh respectively in the same race with poor timings of 56.16 and 57.14 seconds respectively.
In judo, Indian judoka Anil Kumar found the going too hot and was eliminated from the fray after losing his first two bouts in the Asian Games on Monday.
Kumar could not match the might of either his first opponent Ghomi Hussain of Iran in their 90-kg round of 16 encounter nor Mongol Arium Erdene Batbayar in the repechage and bowed out without causing the smallest ripple.
