New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday confirmed sale of Harshad Mehta's commercial property. The Supreme Court also remitted the case relating to Mehta's residential property to Bombay High Court.

As far as the matter pertaining to the sale of residential plots is concerned, the court has said that it is remitting the matter back to the special court in Mumbai, where it has laid down certain guidelines.

In the light of those guidelines, it will have to reconsider the sale of these properties.

As far as the background of the case is concerned, it was in 1992 to 1994 that Mehta swindled money from the stock market to the tune of over Rs 14,000 crore.

He was hounded by the IT Department and other creditors to get the money back.
