Indian cricketers given a miss for Arjuna Awards
Kapil Dev-led panel has recommended 15 sportpersons for the Arjuna Award.

New Delhi: After shooter Manavjit Singh Sandhu was recommended for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, a selection panel led by Kapil Dev has also recommended 15 sportpersons for the Arjuna Award.

They are archer Jayanta Talukdar, athlete K M Binu, badminton national champion Chetan Anand, boxer Vijender, chess grandmaster P Harikrishna, cricketer Anjum Chopra, hockey forward Jyoti Kullu, kabaddi's Navneet Gautam, shooter Vijay Kumar, squash champ Sourav Ghosal, paddler Subhajit Saha, weighlifter Geeta Rani, wrestler Geetika Jhakar and disabled athlete Rohit Bhakar.

For the third year running, no Indian male cricketer was in the list of awardees with spinner Harbhajan Singh being the last Arjuna awardee in 2003.

The awards will be given away by President Pratibha Patil at a function in the Rashtrapati Bhawan on August 29.
