Gilani says Pakistan won't bow to Indian pressure.

Karachi/ Islamabad: Pakistan would conduct its own investigation if India gave it evidence that Pakistan’s “soil” was used for the Mumbai terror attacks, said Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Monday.

"We will react like a responsible country and as I said, if they (India) have some evidence or identify that Pakistani soil was used by any terrorist, we will conduct an inquiry and investigation," said Gilani in Karachi. Two days ago Gilani had said that New Delhi had sent a 52-page dossier on the Mumbai attacks and Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence had given its feedback to American intelligence agency CIA and “this has been passed on to India.”

"If (the charges) are proved, we will punish the persons concerned according to our own laws because we can't allow Pakistan's soil to be used for terrorism. We are totally clear on this," he said.

Gilani, who on Sunday ruled out handing over any Pakistani national found to be involved in the Mumbai attacks to India or any other country, said that Islamabad was not acting on anyone's pressure.

"We are a responsible and strong country, we are not acting on anyone's pressure. We know how to defend the country," he said.

No rift with Zardari

Gilani, while speaking in Islamabad earlier, said he had no differences with President Asif Ali Zardari.

Political analysts have suggested that relations between Zardari and Gilani are strained after the premier sacked National Security Advisor Mahmud Ali Durrani for acknowledging the that Mumbai attacker Ajmal Amir Kasab was a Pakistani.

Speaking in the National Assembly, Gilani said there were "no differences between the President's house and the Prime Minister house".

"All issues will be debated here in the House. We have to make the parliament supreme and sovereign," he said.
