Mumbai: It’s music director, lyricist, playback singer Vishal Dadlani’s birthday today and we snatched five minutes from his big day to ask him five quick questions.
Q: So what are the big plans for the day?
A: (Laughs) I just finished lunch with Farah, Shekhar, Piyali, Sujoy and am planning to take it easy for the rest of the day. I’m really not much of a ‘party’ person, so I’m just going to relax and spend as much time with my family and friends.
Q: Birthday’s usually bring in a lot of nostalgia… is there one thing you feel grateful for today?
A: Definitely my family and friends. And music, it’s the air we breathe.
Q: Describe Shekhar in one word.
A: Awesome.
Q: What could be the best present anyone could give you today?
A: I’d love to be on stage, playing with my band Pentagram. Up there, I feel the happiest.
Q: We know all your compositions would be your favourite, but is there one special tune?
A: Voice, Pentagram. It’s what I identify with the most.
From Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi to Ishaqzaade, Dadlani has made great music, so we compiled a playlist with some of his popular tracks, Voice being right on top.
