Two infants have died in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh after a short circuit in the hospital cut off the oxygen supply to their ventilators.
Two other infants are in critical condition after the incident. The hospital authorities allegedly tried to suppress the incident and said that the infants died due to other ailments not due to the incident. The authorities tried to absolve the hospital shoving the blame on to the premature birth of the newborns. A small spark in the lights of the incubator has also been reported. The other two infants are also in an extremely critical conditionand have been admitted to another hospital.
It is not the first time that the negligence of the hospital authorities and the state government has come to surface. Three months ago, two kids died in Madhya Pradesh due to medical negligence.
Despite efforts,there has been a considerable increase in the number of newborn deaths in Madhya Pradesh, making it a rather unsafe place for child birth.
