New Hampshire: United States presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are locked in a political brawl. They're hurling barbs at each other, with Clinton suggesting Obama is too inexperienced to be the president. Obama’s not holding back either.
The surge in heated exchanges between the top two democratic candidates began earlier this week, when Hillary spoke about her meeting with many world leaders.
"I was wondering, which world leader told her that we needed to invade Iraq,” says Obama
The war of words between the two prospective candidates, fired with Obama discussing his experience in foreign relations, which he thought gave him some judgement and perspective around what other people think about America.
"Probably the strongest experience I have in foreign relations is the fact that I spent four years living overseas when I was a child in Southeast Asia,” says Obama.
However, tempted to toss a cutting remark, Hillary Clinton says, "With all due respect, I don't think living in a foreign country between the ages of six and ten is foreign policy experience."
For this presidential race, Hillary Clinton had been directing her harshest criticism against President Bush and her Republican rivals. She has been campaigning with a sense of inevitability that she would be the democratic nominee. However, the tone of this race seems to be changing, as Clinton’s rival climbs up in the race in Iowa and New Hampshire.
The only question is how the voters will take to this war of words. "Negative attacks work everywhere you go, but here in New Hampshire, it's not received as well as it might in other states, where you really see the fisticuffs,” says a political analyst, Scott Spradling.
Moreover the tact of hurling words at each other in the elections could backfire. The voters expect their candidates to point out differences, but without getting ugly.
