SAMBALPUR: Steep hike in the prices of diesel, kerosene and domestic gas by the Union Government is an undeclared war on its own people without any justification, said Bhabani Hota, former MP and president of All India University Employees’ Confederation. It would push up prices of all commodities putting an additional burden on the people, who are already reeling under high inflation. He said instead of taking concrete measures to contain inflation, the Government is only engaged in fuelling it.Alleging that the Government had increased the prices of petroleum products just to reduce oil subsidy, give scope to private producers of petroleum products in India to make more profit, raise funds to build stockpile for strategic reserve of oil, Hota demanded rollback of the prices to the March 31, 2011 level or prepare to face peoples’ wrath.
