Mumbai: A film producer here registered a complaint of attempted theft against an unknown hammer-wielding man who allegedly entered his bungalow this morning.
Kamal Khan woke up at around 0530 hrs, IST and found a man standing in his drawing room with a hammer.
Khan took out his licensed revolver from a nearby drawer and pointed it at the man who escaped by jumping from the second floor drawing room of the producer's northwest Mumbai residence, said a senior official of Versova police station.
Police refused to say if the person was the alleged "hammer-man" who attacked women in the city. A man named Vikas Tak was arrested on November 10 last year on suspicion of being the attacker and is currently in judicial custody.
"Moreover, the modus operandi used by this person is different as the 'hammer-man' used to attack unsuspecting women in broad daylight," the officer said.
