HD Deve Gowda accepted Kumaraswamy's resignation in a meeting held in Bangalore to assess the recent electoral losses.
Bangalore: The JDS founder and former prime minister HD Deve Gowda accepted his son and JDS Karnataka State chief HD Kumaraswamy's resignation on Wednesday. He resigned after the JDS suffered a humiliating defeat in last week's Lok Sabha by-polls.
Kumaraswamy's wife Anitha also lost by over 1 lakh votes from Bangalore Rural seat. The JDS also lost neighbouring Mandya by a big margin.
Gowda, who held a meeting of party's top functionaries in Bangalore to assess the electoral losses said that the new chief of state unit will be appointed before Monday. Kumaraswamy remained absent from the meeting.
Gowda also said added that the JDS would continue its fight for the people.
