Games of March 2009
The games have new action oriented control scheme, cooperative gameplay.

Last month saw some high profile games like Killzone 2, Halo Wars etc. hit stands and while this month may not be all that exciting, it’s still got a few tricks up its sleeve.

Resident Evil 5 (PS3 Xbox360)

Survival horror rears its ugly head once again as an old favorite comes knocking on our door, complete with a new action oriented control scheme and cooperative gameplay. We’ve already covered the basics in our hands on preview so we suggest you head over there right now, educate yourself and wait patiently till the end of the month to slaughter them undead folk.

Wanted: Weapons of Fate (PC Xbox360 PS3)

Based on the graphic novel and the movie of the same name, Wanted will allow players to experience life as a super assassin - geek turned super assassin, Wesley Gibson that is. You’ll be able to slow time down, curve bullets, kill a truck load of grunts in cool ways and unravel the truth behind your real family in this video game adaptation that picks up from where the movie left off.

The Wheelman (Xbox360 PS3)

Vin Diesel hasn’t been in a game for a while so The Wheelman marks his return of sorts and we hope it doesn’t end up sucking the big ones since most games based on movies do. To get a gist of things, head over to our interview with Simon Woodroffe, Creative Director at Midway who spills the beans on working with Vin, gameplay, multiplayer (the lack of it i.e.) and then some more.

Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. (PS3 Xbox360 PC)

Been craving a nice flight sim for a while now? Well I don’t know about the nice part since the game hasn’t released yet but developer Ubisoft are all set to offer players some high octane mile high combat action with H.A.W.X. (High Altitude Warfare eXperimental squadron) that takes place between the events of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 and End War. The game will be easy enough to appease arcade fans but at the same time if it’s a hardcore sim you crave, turn off all the assists for a more realistic approach.

Resistance Retribution (PSP)

Even though I wasn’t a big fan with the way Resistance 2 played out, I’m still looking forward to Retribution since it’s a brand new game of sorts and not some dumbed down port. For starters it’ll play out from a 3rd person perspective (as opposed to the FPS view the first two games played out from), offer newer enemies and a brand new plot that takes place after the events of the first game.

Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 (PS3)

Last year’s most excellent RTS comes to the PS3 in the form of an Ultimate Edition bundled with:

  • Five exciting new multiplayer maps
  • Behind the scenes videos and trailers, including Raising the Iron Curtain Documentary, From Pens to Pixels, the Girls of Red Alert 3, Bloopers & Outtakes, the Red Alert 3 Remix and many more!
  • PS3 exclusive Command & Conquer TV programming, including PS3-dedicated BattleCast PrimeTime and a special episode of Command School focused on tips, tricks and strategies from the development team
  • In-depth profiles on all the Red Alert 3 Units
  • The official Red Alert 3 soundtrack
