New Delhi: ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ is a fantasy film based on a novel by the same name. The film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov and is co-produced by Tim Burton. The novel's author Seth Grahame-Smith has written the screenplay and Benjamin Walker stars as the title character of Abraham Lincoln.
Interestingly, the film is about the real life figure Abraham Lincoln, who as per as the novel, has a secret identity of a vampire hunter too. Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, discovers vampires are planning to take over the country, so he decides to eliminate them in order to save the people.
Dominic Cooper is playing the role of Henry Sturgess who is Lincoln’s mentor in the art of vampire hunting. Mary Elizabeth Winstead will be seen in the role of Mary Todd, Lincoln’s wife.
The film was announced in March 2010 but the shooting couldn’t begin before March 2011. Most of the filming took place in Louisiana and Tim Burton was closely associated with the film throughout the whole process.
Made at a budget of 69 million dollars, ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ is a 3D film. The hero of the film beat Adrien Brody, Josh Lucas, James D'Arcy, and Oliver Jackson-Cohen in the race for the lead role.
The film is expected to showcase its narrative through a series of vivid visuals due to Tim Burton’s association with the film. It’s director Bekmambetov’s eighth film as director, so he will be trying to experiment with his style in the film, which may prove beneficial for the audiences too.
