Perhaps for the first time, the city police have imposed Section 144 within the Secretariat premises to ensure that no persons or groups, particularly of the pro-Telangana outfits, sneak in and stage protests inside the premises.
The decision came as a rude shock to many visitors to the Secretariat as imposition of Section 144 inside the premises was unheard of till now.
Police sources said that this decision was taken after pro-Telangana groups sneaked inside the premises individually and then staged protests in the past.
Seven Telangana Jagruthi activists sneaked inside the Secretariat premises on Wednesday and raised slogans against chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, for his comments on the Telangana movement, near his office in the C-Block. Similarly, the OUJAC had planned to storm the Assembly on Thursday.
“Even otherwise, Telangana groups have been planning to stage protests inside the Secretariat and to prevent it, Section 144 has been clamped,” sources said.
This notification by Hyderabad city police commi s ioner Anurag Sharma is viewed as a precautionary measure before the Telangana March slated for September 30.
The prohibitory orders will be in force till November 18, displayed the notice boards inside the Secretariat.
Security has been beefed up and the police have been thoroughly frisking visitors as only three days are left for the proposed Telangana march.
