Flight suffers bird-hit, all safe

VIJAYAWADA: A Jet Airways plane with 53 passengers on board suffered a bird-hit on Wednesday before landing at Gannavaram airport here.The incident took place around 8.30 a.m.when the flight was about to touch down and suddenly a bird hit the right wing of the aircraft, damaging it slightly, airport officials said. However, the pilot made a safe landing and none of the passengers were hurt, they said. The plane flew back to Hyderabad at 4:30 p.m after repairs.Due to the bird-hit, the return flight to Hyderabad was cancelled, officials said.Vigilance and Monitoring Committee member of the Union government P Satish Kumar was among the passengers on the flight.
