F1 2011: Humdinger of a season ahead
The year will witness five drivers who have won the championship before.

New Delhi: Fasten your seatbelts, get ready for the ride of your life! If the 2010 Formula One season is anything to go by, then life in the fast lane might well be re-defined in the new year.

After a real crackerjack season which saw Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull become the youngest F1 champion, the focus now shifts to an action packed 2011 and the much awaited Indian Grand Prix towards the end of the year.

With a bunch of former champions looking to set the tracks ablaze, F1 connoisseurs are probably going to end up with much more than they had bargained for.

However, one would really have to question the comeback attempt of seven time champion and arguably the greatest driver in the history of the sport, Michael Schumacher.

Aged 41, driving for the Mercedes GP team, Schumacher finished a disappointing ninth this year and more importantly his teammate Nico Roseberg outperformed the racing legend by almost double the points.

Moving on to the rest of the field, double World Champion Fernando Alonso who had the 2010 Championship in the bag for majority of the year will be itching to make amends and Ferrari will be hoping that the Spaniard goes all the way on this occasion.

In a battle among teammates, Mc Laren drivers Lewis Hamilton, the 2008 champion and Jenson Button , who won the title in 2009 will be at loggerheads and rest assured if push comes to shove neither will be willing to relent.

There is also no love lost between Vettel and his Aussie teammate Mark Webber who was at the receiving end of some partial treatment from the Red Bull team. Webber will surely have a point or two to prove this time around.

In a year which might turn out to be a battle among teammates, 2011 promises to deliver one of the most intriguing and competitive seasons of all time.

What's your reaction?
