VK Sibal allegedly scuttled investigation into discrepancies in oil exploration.

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed an FIR against former director general of Hydrocarbons VK Sibal on charges of scuttling investigation into discrepancies in oil exploration.

The investigating agency on Friday conducted raids at 15 places across New Delhi, Noida and Dehra Dun. Sibal's residence in Noida has also been raided.

Sibal is alleged to have favoured some oil companies and a foreign entity.

The CBI had registered a Preliminary Enquiry in November 2009 and Sibal is likely to be taken into custody soon.

Sibal served as the director general of Hydrocarbons between 2004 and 2009.

The report also claims that the increase affected the revenues of the government.
