THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Union Government which turns a blind eye towards the anti-people steps of oil companies is making a war cry to the people, said RSP state secretary V P Ramakrishna Pillai. Till recently, the oil companies hiked prices citing the rise in crude oil prices in the international market. But this time they have cited the downfall in the rupee exchange rate as the reason which is not acceptable, the RSP leader said in a statement here on Thursday.The DYFI will observe ‘black day’ on Friday in protest against the petrol price hike.The DYFI, in a statement here on Thursday, asked the public to join the protest programmes including road blockades. The UPA Government was testing the patience of the people by allowing oil companies to make frequent hikes in petrol prices, said DYFI state secretary T V Rajesh.In a statement here on Thursday, the DYFI leader alleged that the UPA Government was supporting the oil companies to make exorbitant profits.FLAYS HIKE: The Revolutionary Youth Front (RYF) has flayed the hike in petrol price. In a statement here on Thursday, the RYF alleged that the failure of the Union Government in controlling the oil companies has led to their hiking petroleum prices in a blatant manner.BJP Flays HikeKozhikode: The political leaders here condemned the the petrol price hike and termed it anti-people. “This hike comes at a time when the food inflation has reached 12 per cent. This is proof that the government is least bothered about the hardships of the common man. The decision to give private companies the right to control fuel prices has been proved wrong yet again,” said BJP state president V Muraleedharan.
