PARADIP: A 27-year-old DTP operator from Jagatsinghpur district has achieved a rare feat of composing articles in 60 languages in a children’s magazine, ‘Suna Bhauni’. Computer-savvy Sandip Patra has composed for the magazine in Odia, Hindi, English, Bengali, Gujarati, Telugu, Sanskrit, Kannad, Urdu, Tamil, Sindhi, Punjabi, Marathi, Santhali, Malayalam, Nepali, Manipuri, Konkani, Koshali, Dogri, Kui, Bhojapuri, Kashmiri, Dam, Maithili, Assamese, Sindhi and other Indian languages. For his feat, his name has entered the Limca Book of Records. The certificate in this regard was received by Patra on Monday.  He attributes his success to his mentor and founder-editor of ‘Suna Bhauni’ Bijoy Mahapatra of Pakanpur village who died recently.Bijoy had also edited and published the magazine in 75 Indian languages till 2007 and his name figures in the list of Limca Book of Records.“I am not a linguist and whatever little knowledge I have about the languages is because they are loaded in my computer. The vernacular language software loaded in my computer eases my composition work,” said  Patra, a Post Graduate Diploma holder in computer applications. He mostly devotes his leisure time to composition work. “After office hours, I switch on the computer and plays with the languages,” said Patra.Patra, who hails from Panisalia village near Jagatsinghpur, works as a clerk in the State-run marketing cooperative in Jagatsinghpur. The young man now aspires to compose the magazine in 250 languages and take ‘Suna Bhauni’ to global level. “It was my mentor’s dream to publish the magazine in 250 languages and I am hopeful of fulfilling his dream,” said Patra.
