Barabanki: A driver and security officer of a Samajwadi Party leader were on Saturday arrested from Jaidpur area for allegedly manhandling staff of toll tax plaza, police said.
Personal security officer Jogendra Singh and driver Rizwan of SP leader Iqbal were arrested from Harakh crossing, Superintendent of Police Abdul Hameed said, adding, a 0.32 revolver was also recovered from their possession.
The SP said that the accused have admitted assaulting Ahmadpur toll tax plaza staff and open firing on them. He said that at the SP leader and his two associates Mohd Abid and Samar Bahadur Singh were also present at the time of the incident. Hameed said that the matter was being investigated.
