The documentary was earlier scheduled to be released on September 18.Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, crew of the documentary alleged that they had to postpone the launch because of political interference. The crew said that leaders of political parties including the CPM and the IUML had raised objections to the documentary saying that it would further flare up tension in the area. The 135-minute documentary, directed by Sayeed Vanimel, gives a detailed description of the political and communal violence and killings that had taken place in the region in the course of time. The director said that after raging allegations against the documentary, they had organised a special screening for the members of all political parties as directed by the District Collector. “Though most of the political leaders congratulated us, the CPM and the IUML demanded changes in the documentary which was not acceptable to us. Our aim is to shed light on the true nature of the violence in Nadapuram and bring peace to the region. It is distressing that even a documentary can’t be released here without the prior permission of political parties,” Sayeed added.K C Firoz, K Shabin Muhammed, Sinia C V and Sandeep Pookkottur were also present at the press meet.
