HYDERABAD: A DIG rank officer is likely to be questioned by a team from the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the Sohrabuddin killing. A CBI team from Delhi led by DIG Kandaswamy arrived in Hyderabad three days ago in connection with the probe. Sources told Express that Kandaswamy is in the city to question the DIG rank officer as CBI believes he played a key role in providing logistics support to the Gujarat police team, which ended up in the killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife Kauserbi in November 2005.
The DIG, who is presently working in a key post, is alleged to have booked a room in the AP Police Officers mess at Masab Tank, for the stay of Gujarat IPS officer Raj Kumar Pandyan, who was arrested earlier in the case. Though the officer had initially denied he booked the room for Pandyan, sources said a check of the mess register revealed Pandyan was a guest of the DIG.Incidentally, the CBI special director Balwinder Singh was in Hyderabad for the last couple of days and he too is understood to have discussed the Sohrabuddin case with the top brass here. "The team is likely to question the DIG in the next few days," sources added.
