Barmer: Likening Congress to a "limited company", former Congress leader Colonel Sonaram Choudhary said that he defected to BJP because of "sorry state of affairs" in the party.
A retired army colonel and former Congress MLA, Sonaram defeated BJP rebel Jaswant Singh who contested from the Barmer seat in the recently-concluded Lok Sabha polls as an Independent.
He said that he was upset with the functioning of former chief minister Ashok Gehlot and decided to quit the party.
Sonaram on Thursday said that he defected to BJP from Congress because of sorry state of affairs in the Congress party which, he commented, has been made like a "limited company".
On Singh he said, it was up to the party highcommand to take a decision for taking Singh back in the party fold.
He said that he was not aware whether the party was considering to take Singh back.
"Any decision regarding Jaswant Singh would be taken by the party highcommand," Sonaram said.
Sonaram also alleged that shifting of the place for setting up oil refinery in Barmer was a decision of the government to benefit people close to the former chief minister.
