Amit Kumar, the youngest in India's wrestling contingent for the 20th Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, has promised to grapple for nothing less than gold for his country.

The 19-year-old wrestler, son of a milkman from Haryana, won a silver medal at the Budapest world championships last year and will be making his debut at the Commonwealth Games - wrestling in the 57 kg category.

"I am fully prepared for the Commonwealth Games. I know this is my first CWG and I am confident for the assignment. I just want to give my best. I want to win gold for my country," Amit told IBNLive before heading to Glasgow.

The wrestling contingent this time will be spearheaded by the heroes of the sport - two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar and London Olympics bronze medallist Yogeshwar Dutt. The duo will be an inspiration for the youngsters in Glagow.

"Yogeshwar bhai and Sushil bhai are inspirations for all of us. I have learnt a lot from them. They have achieved a lot in their career and are continuing to do that. They have given me tips ahead of the Glasgow Games. I will apply those in the competition" said Amit.

Apart from senior-pros Sushil and Yogeshwar, and Amit, the wresting young brigade comprise of Bajrang Poonia (61kg), Pawan Kumar (86kg) and Satyavrat (97kg).

"There is lots of hope from us. Our seniors and the people from our village have given us lots of confidence. Sushil bhai and Yogeshwar bhai have done their part in the past and have made the country proud. This is a golden chance for the youngsters. I am all prepared for it," Amit added.

Amit also credited his coaches for their hard work and preparations.

"My coach Sujitman has played a vital role in our preparations. He motivated, inspired and gave all the tips from his experience. He is an excellent coach. He said 'just believe yourself and target gold medal'," Amit concluded.
