Crisis deepens for Shibu Soren
Additional district court in Giridih issues production warrant against Soren for hearing in Kudko murder case.

New Delhi: The trouble seems to be aggregating for Union Coal Minster Shibu Soren.

Already convicted for killing his private secretary Sashinath Jha, Soren now finds himself docked in another case of mass murder.

Additional district court in Giridih issues production warrant against Soren to appear in the court on December 21 for hearing in a 1974 Kudko murder case.

The case relates to killing of three people over a dispute over a goat for their feast Kudko village in Giridih district of Jharkhand on April 14, 1974. The dispute became so serious that three were killed.

There are 16 accused in this case including Shibu Soren. Eight people are set free due to no evidence against them and seven other are dead.

Following the conviction of Soren as guilty of abducting and murdering his private secretary in 1994, Opposition leaders of BJP demanded removal of all 'tainted' ministers, while Left allies said it would be untenable for Soren to continue in office.

Congress chose to give a guarded response to the developments with its leader and Union Minister Ambika Soni saying, "law will take its own course".
