CHENNAI: The candidate who ranked first under sports quota for medicine chose to pursue engineering on Thursday as counselling for this category began at the Anna University. The Government quota seats in universities affiliated to Anna University, government, and governmentaided and selffinancing engineering colleges are to be allotted through a single window system of counselling.
The number of applicants under the quota this year was 3,457. Of these, 350 were called for certificate verification and 247 selected.

After release of the rank list, all of them were asked to attend the counselling.

Anaka, a squash player, ranked first among the six shortlisted candidates.

She would study Computer Science at SSN College of Engineering, Chennai.

Placed first in the engineering section of the sports quota was Hussein, who chose to study mechanical engineering at the College of Engineering, Guindy. Kavitha, who will be studying ECE at the same college, stood second.
