There has been no case of anybody succumbing to rat bites in the city till date. There have only been a few cases of leptospirosis so far,” said an official.“Within the last two months, we have exterminated around 1,120 rats. Every Friday, we keep a rat-killing paste on the beach. We also place the paste in places where food waste is dumped and stored. We are also educating the people to avoid water stagnation and not to walk around with bare feet.
