KOCHI: Joy Antony, a civil police officer of North Police station, was on Wednesday suspended for allegedly slapping a High Court Judge’s driver. According to the police, the cop had slapped Justice P S Gopinathan’s driver, Hamsa, when he came to the police station for lodging a complaint after he was assaulted by a gang at the High Court bus stop last week. The gang chased him, and took him in a car to an isolated location near Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, where he was brutally attacked. When Hamsa arrived at the police station for registering a complaint, Joy Antony had slapped him.Hamsa later filed a complaint with the Central Police Station. The police had arrested eight persons in connection with the attack on him. Kochi City Police Deputy Commissioner T Gopalakrishna Pillai has asked Palluruthy Circle Inspector Francis Shelby to conduct an investigation into the incident and submit a report.
