BHUBANESWAR: Congress is likely to take disciplinary action against party MLAs who openly demanded a change in the State leadership when Jairam Ramesh and Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union ministers, were touring the State. Dissident activities had come to the fore in the State Congress on Sunday when former working president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra met Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad along with some MLAs and leaders demanding a change in the leadership from top to bottom of the organisation. Azad was on a two-day visit to the State to review the progress of AIIMS project near Bhubaneswar and attend the annual function of the Utkal University Students’ Union. Sources said the party was planning disciplinary action against the two MLAs, Surendra Singhbhoi and Dushmanta Nayak, who had openly demanded a change in the State leadership.  Odisha in charge of Congress and former Union minister Jagdish Tytler had disapproved the meeting between the dissidents and Azad. Tytler had said that there was no point in meeting Azad. Either they should have met the Congress president or me, he said and added that party’s poor performance in the Zilla Parishad election was being reviewed.
