Congress jumps on agrarian solidarity bandwagon

BANGALORE: A day after social activist Medha Patkar expressed support to the farmers of Halligudi who are agitating against the acquisition of their lands for the proposed Rs 36,000 crore Posco steel plant, the Congress has decided to jump on the agrarian solidarity bandwagon.
All India Congress Committee general secretary Madhusudan Mistry addressed the press here on Saturday that the Congress which has already disapproved any forceful acquisition of land for industries, will participate in the July 15 Gadag bandh called by farmer associations and other fora.
