New Delhi: Kim Clijsters has progressed to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open.

The Belgian got past Daniela Hantuchova in just a little over an hour the fourth round beating her Slovak opponent in straight sets 6-1, 7-5.

Clijsters was the runner-up in the Australian Open in 2004.

If her retirement goes according to plan, then Clijsters is playing at the Melbourne Park for the last time.

She will be playing comeback queen Martina Hingis for a berth in the semi-finals.

In another match Maria Sharapova also got through to the quarters beating fellow Russian Vera Zvonareva in straight sets 7-5, 6-4.
