BHUBANESWAR: From the confines of a classroom to a few moments of freedom in the air, around 100 children tried their hands at para-sailing, which is fast becoming a popular adventure sport in this region. The good breeze provided the perfect ambience for the children to experience the thrill of flying on Tuesday morning on the Sainik School campus here, with their friends cheering them on. The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan along with National Adventure Foundation had arranged a para-sailing programme for children of the Kendriya Vidyalaya-3. Mostly confined to classrooms, Tuesday was a different day for these children and also a memorable one in their life, as they soared in the sky and achieved what always remained a dream. According to Rabindra Kumar Bhuyan, Director of National Adventure Foundation, students of Kendriya Vidyalaya have been participating in the para-sailing programme for the last three years. Girls and boys selected from different classes participated in the adventure. After the smooth cruise and a perfect landing, a beaming Rajashekar Pradhan said such opportunities would help them gain self-confidence. The 13-year-old boy said that students of other schools too should get an opportunity. A sense of achievement was palpable among the children who enthusiastically took part in the adventure activities.
