BANGALORE: The Chhattisgarh Tourism Board (CTB) which was established a decade ago, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Kouni Academy to train and educate travel agents in India about attractions in Chhattisgarh. Addressing media persons here on Friday, Tapesh Jha, Managing Director of CTB said the board is yet to decide on its brand ambassador.The Board which aims at reaching nine cities to promote their brand was in the city to brief about their tourism strategy. “We have not finalized on the brand ambassador, but when we have ‘development’ on our side, we would aggressively market our product. We have also decided on a campaign called ‘I discover’,” he added.The state is rich in minerals and the most primitive tribes are found here. “We want tourist to respect out culture and human values. Our state covers 60 per cent of forest and has contributed maximum GDP in the agrarian sector. Apart from this, the state also has the longest water falls in India and thanks to UNESCO, our land is branded as a heritage site,” he said.The state, which is infested with naxals had hit national headlines after a group of people were shot to death in Dantewada district last year. But the board managing director assured safety from the state government for tourists. “We keep hearing things like that all over but in many cases things have been blown out of proportion. The state government has now taken all precautionary measures to ensure safety and security, otherwise we would not have recorded about one lakh tourist inflow last year,” he added.
