HYDERABAD: The CBI is all set to speed up the three bigticket probes currently in its docket: the Emaar deal, alleged illegal assets of Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and the alleged illegal mining activities of Gali Janardhan Reddy. The agency will begin questioning of some top bureaucrats this week. The plan of action, sources said, was finalised after the recent visit of special CBI director, Balwinder Singh. Simultaneously, the agency is gearing up for the probe into the illegal mining in Karnataka following the Supreme Court directions.
Sources told Express that IAS officers BP Acharya and Y Srilakshmi will be among those called for questioning from Monday onwards. Though both officers have already been questioned, the CBI is likely to summon them once again. Asked whether arrests would follow the grilling, CBI officials evaded comment. Sources said some arrests are likely next week. CBI officials are also gearing up to begin a probe into mining activities in Bellary district in Karnataka. The apex court had directed it to establish the 'linkages' between mining activities in Bellary and Anantapur district.

"We are yet to receive a copy of the court order. We have to see whether the probe is for general mining in the area or anything in particular,'' officials said.
