Button plans a swerve into driver management
Butoon wants to help youngsters break into the sport, just as he had as a 20-year-old with Williams in 2000.

Silverstone: McLaren's Jenson Button is mulling a move into driver management while continuing his Formula One career.

The 2009 world champion told Reuters that he wanted to help youngsters break into the sport, just as he had as a 20-year-old with Williams in 2000.

"It's been going on for quite a while, and it's not just after F1, it's during F1," the 31-year-old said of his plans at the British Grand Prix.

"As a driver who has been racing for 12 years, I've been through the good and the bad.

"Formula One has obviously changed a lot since I started, and I've learned a lot. I think it could be very useful for other people, obviously British kids, but not just them. I think I've got a lot to offer. So it could be very exciting."

Button, who has said he intends to be racing for some years yet, made clear the venture would be with his own manager Richard Goddard.

"It's not just the two of us either. It's a company, so yeah, it's quite interesting," the Briton said.

Other Formula One drivers have got involved with running teams in junior categories, notably Red Bull's Australian Mark Webber and team boss Christian Horner in GP3 and Italian Giancarlo Fisichella in the GP2 support series.

Button said he had no plans to do that.

"I wouldn't be running a team," he said. "But for me Formula One, and making it to Formula One, is not just about driving fast.

"It's about carrying yourself correctly, working in the right manner with your team, the sponsors, with the engineers and training in the right way so that you enjoy it, with nutrition, the right frame of mind, the mental aspects.

"There's so much that kids, if they hear it from someone that hasn't had Formula One experience - from a manager - they go 'What do you know?'

"But from someone who has actually been through it, it's a great angle and it could work well."

What's your reaction?
