HYDERABAD: Google search engine proves handy to people from all professions even an animation designer-turned-thief. When 38-year-old M D Maheswaran's animation studio raked up losses, he reportedly logged on to Google, searched on ways to commit burglaries and even pulled off four successful ones before being caught.According to Trimulgherry detective subinspector K Dasaradharami Reddy, Maheswaran, who hails from Kolattur in Tamil Nadu, did a diploma course in animation designing and began working in a private firm in Chennai.But he was embroiled in a property offence there and shifted to Bangalore. A warrant is also pending against him in the case. Maheswaran later came to Hyderabad and began his business here."Along with his friend Yousuf, he started Chitra Animation at Bowenpally. But the business ended in losses and had to be shut down after they failed to give salaries to the staff," the SI said. It was then that he decided to Google his way into crime. "It is easy to get information about how to commit offences like burglaries and robberies on Google," Dasaradharami Reddy said.Maheswaran even practiced before committing the offences, police said. "Maheswaran used to recee locked houses during evenings and go to a second show movie. He used to strike while returning from the film," police said.After entering the compound of the targeted house, Maheswaran breaks open the window panes, removes the iron grills and escapes with valuables, they added.He successfully burgled a house at Pet Basheerabad and three in Bowenpally but failed in another attempt as the inmates were inside.Maheswaran was nabbed on Friday by two Blue Colts constables when he was moving suspiciously with silver articles at Lalbazar Crossroads. Upon being interrogated, he spilled the beans. Based on his confession, police recovered four video cameras, gold and silver articles worth Rs 4.50 lakh. He was remanded to judicial custody.
