HYDERABAD: Elaborate arrangements have been made for the district tours of PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana, from Sunday. He will kick start his tour from Tuni in East Godavari district and later visit Krishna district on September 2 and 3.Though the district tours were primarily meant for strengthening the Congress cadre and to consolidate the party at the grassroot level, the APCC president will take on YSR Congress leader Jagan Mohan Reddy and his loyal MLAs who had resigned to their posts in protest against inclusion of late YSR’s name in the CBI’s FIR.Speaking to newsmen here on Saturday, Botcha claimed that his party would win majority seats in the event of byelections after the Speaker accepts the resignations of 26 pro-Jagan MLAs.“How will the people vote for the YSR Congress candidates when several agitations against corruption by people like Anna Hazare were going on in the country? If the YSR Congress wins even one Assembly seat then it would open gates for corruption.People will teach a lesson to these MLAs for extending support to Jagan,” he remarked.During the district tours, the APCC chief will interact with the district party leaders and the cadre and address public meetings. He will unveil statues of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. In East Godavari, he will interact with the farmers and elicit their views for declaring a crop holiday.A huge rally comprising about 1,000 vehicles would be taken out from Tuni.It is also learnt that the APCC president along with Chiranjeevi is planning to hold Congress-PRP merger meetings at Vizag, Tirupati and Guntur from September 18.
